Our organization is an all volunteer group that survives on donations. The cost of adoption is a minimum $200.00 donation to HO-BO Care (slightly higher for the occasional young puppy in ur care). We are a 501(3)c non-profit so all donations are tax deductible.
Our homeless boxers come from 1 of 3 places: either they are an owner surrender from someone who is unable to keep the dog any more, a stray or from a local shelter. The misconception that many people have about rescue is that all the dogs are abused basket cases; this is just not the case. Most of the dogs are between the ages of 1 and 3 years old and have been abandoned by owners who did not realize what the boxer breed requires. This is a high-energy dog who needs plenty of exercise and attention. A bored boxer is an incredible destructive boxer!
All dogs are spayed/neutered, brought up to date on their shots and examined. Most of the dogs then are transferred to a foster home where they recuperate from the spay/neuter and can be evaluated by the foster family. After the application is received, someone contacts you for a phone interview and then we complete a home check or home visit. We do not place our rescue dogs in apartments OR homes without an adequately fenced yard.
